Arnold Lee 'Boze' Keeling

Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at his home, with his family at his side.Boze was born March 10, 1943, at Veedersburg, the son of John L. Keeling Jr. and June R. (Keller) Davis. He married his wife of 52 years Joyce K. Mycroft on Nov. 14, 1964, at Covington. His father has preceded him in death.Surviving family include: his mother, June R. (Keller) Davis, Anderson; wife Joyce K. Keeling, Veedersburg; daughter, Shelley (Tom) Snelling, Sherman, Illinois; son Greg (Rita) Keeling, Veedersburg; sister Helen Hoagland, Anderson; brother Dennis Keeling, Naples, Florida; four grandchildren, Joshua (Lori) Snelling, Amy (Jared) Spaid, Hunter Keeling and Sawyer Keeling; and three great-grandchildren.Boze graduated from Veedersburg High School in 1961. He then served his country in the U.S. Army 1962-1964 stationed in Germany. After returning home, he was employed at Harrison Steel, Tee-Pak, Wicks Lumber, and for many years employed at Indiana Bell retiring from there Dec. 31, 1995. He then went on to work for Johnson Control until retiring once again in 2001.He attended New Century Christian Church near Veedersburg. He was a member of the F. & A.M. Lodge #491 and American Legion Post #288 both in Veedersburg. In his free time Boze enjoyed woodworking, he especially enjoyed being outdoors whether he was working in his yard, cutting wood, mushrooming or huntingw rabbit and deer.Funeral service will be at 6 p.m. Saturday Aug. 12, 2017, at Dickerson Funeral Home, Veedersburg with Pastor Greg McDonald officiating. Visitation will be 1-5:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Masonic service beginning at5:45 p.m. Military honors will be given by American Legion Post #288 and the U.S. Army. Private family burial will be at a later date at Bonebrake Cemetery with Pastor Joe Dodds officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to American Legion Post #288 or the American Cancer Society. Wanda Beardshear

Beardshear was born Feb. 5, 1922, in Denison, Iowa, and passed away on Aug. 25, 2017, in Mtn. Home, Ark.She was united in marriage to Dale Beardshear on Dec. 1, 1946, in Kansas City.Wanda is survived by her husband of 70 years, Dale Beardshear; her daughter Carla Boze and husband Douglas; granddaughter Jamie Parrott and husband Rodney; great-grandsons Samson and Orin Parrott; great-granddaughter Onna Boze along with her mother and sister Blaine and Jaden Rybolt; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Jacob and Nina Vera (Zea) Baumgarner; brothers Elwood and Harold Baumgarner; sister Wenona Baumgarner; two infant brothers and her grandson Lucas Boze.Following graduation from Denison High School, Wanda began working in the defense sector during World War II. She joined the Navy and served as a WAVE Radioman, documenting Japanese radio transmissions. She was listening when the Enola Gay dropped the bomb on Hiroshima.After the war, she lived in Kansas City where she attended Huff Business College. While in Kansas City, she met Dale at a church function. They married after a three-month courtship. Since he had served in the Army, she always said they had an Army/Navy marriage. They went to Homer, Neb., to live where Dale was raised. In 1956, Wanda and Dale adopted their baby daughter, Carla, after a three-year wait.In 1965, she earned her LPN certification. She served in nursing homes in Sioux City, Iowa, until the family moved to West Plains in 1970. She worked briefly at West Vue Nursing Home, then five years in the Intensive Care Unit of West Plains Memorial Hospital (now Ozarks Medical Center).Dale and Wanda moved to Gainesville to be closer to her mother, working at the Ozark County Health Department, managing the Adult Boarding Home in Gainesville, then working at Gainesville Healthcare Center. Wanda finished her working years in many capacities with Green Thumb, at Gainesville City Hall, the Senior Center, and Gainesville Schools.
